Daily average circulation for 379 US newspapers fell 11 % to 30.4 million compared with 2008. The New York Times sold fewer than 1 million copies first time since 1985 as its circulation dropped 7.3 % to 927,851. USA Today fell 17 % to 1.9 million copies; the Wall Street Journal?s print-only circulation dropped 2.4 % to 1.62 million; Tribune Co.?s Los Angeles Times dropped 11 % to 657,467, and Washington Post Co. declined 6.4 % to 582,844
